Ask anyone who knows us and they will tell you we are proud of
our Wisconsin roots. What does the Badger State have to do
with wine? Well, it just so happens that we hail from the
Northern part of Wisconsin where the growing season is short and the
winters are harsh.
These tough conditions contribute to the fact that most families
have 10 or more children! In addition, this is one of the most
Northern places in the World where American White Oak (Quercus alba)
grows. So, as a result of the short growing season the oak is
extremely tight grained. This grain is unique to oak from this
region as compared to other parts of the U.S. As a result the
grain more closely represents the tight grain of famous French Oak
growing regions.
It's this tighter grain that
allows for a more balanced extraction of toasted oak flavors that
complement the finished wines with eloquent notes. What makes
it really "REAL" is the fact that some of these logs come from the
very land that Corey grew up on in Marathon, WI!
